Five frames. A colony ready for your care.

Your nuc is a small working colony with a laying queen, worker bees, brood and food stores on five British National frames. It gives you a colony to develop in your own compatible hive.

Check your hive before choosing

This option is for British National equipment. National and Langstroth frames are different; choose the format that matches your brood box. If you need exact frame measurements, queen-line or transport-box details, please speak to us before ordering.

Spring sets the pace

We expect dispatch or collection from late April to early May 2027. This is a seasonal window rather than a fixed appointment: weather and the development of each colony determine when it is ready. We will contact you to agree your dispatch or collection date. Delivery is arranged around suitable weather and transport conditions; please wait for confirmation before travelling to collect.

Choose delivery or collection

  1. Choose the right frame format and pay the £50 reservation deposit.
  2. Keep your order confirmation. We will be in touch to confirm your delivery address or collection appointment when your nuc is ready.
  3. Pay the remaining £300 separately before dispatch or collection.

UK mainland delivery is included in the total £350 price. Alternatively, collect by arrangement from Overton-on-Dee at the same price. Nuc delivery is to the UK mainland only; Northern Ireland and offshore islands are excluded. We will confirm your address, delivery arrangements and a suitable dispatch date before requesting the balance. Your bees will not be dispatched immediately after paying the deposit.

A few useful answers

Does the £50 cover the whole nuc?

No. Each nuc costs £350 in total. The checkout payment is a £50 deposit towards that price, leaving £300 to pay separately before dispatch or collection. There is no automatic balance charge.

What if spring weather holds things back?

The bees need suitable conditions and time to develop. If readiness changes, we will contact you to rearrange dispatch or collection rather than promise a date the colony cannot meet.

Is this suitable for my first hive?

A nuc can be a starting colony. Have compatible hive equipment ready and arrange support from a local beekeeping association or experienced beekeeper. Contact us if you would like to talk through your setup.
